Montage - it! week 3 & 4

For this week in studio, we were asked to edit our flip book and photomontages.
My previous photomontages, still there is not smooth finish between the background photo and my  model. I tried to add more realistic lighting on my model and most importantly put some group of people to show the scale.

In my first photomontage, I found a stair and people stepping on the staircase. I cropped them and change it to silhouette and changes the opacity to make it inside of my building. Also, I copied the rope stair and people to new layers and rotated to make a shadow. I used multiply effect to make sure every elements I put were dissolved into the photograph.

In second one, I tried to concentrate on the function of my model as a tunnel. I drew a road across the building using stamp effect. Most importantly, I tried to demonstrate my idea of this photograph  that the significant industrial pollutions that human have made. I highlighted this idea by letting lava flows over the industrial elements as well as my model and it melts them down. The grey sky and vivid red colour were done by fire smoke blushes downloaded from google.

For my flip book, I added more images between the pages that are not connected smoothly. I took myself again in the angle between those pages and simply changed the perspective of my model by free-transformation tool. Also, I left 4cm of extra margin on the left side of my flip book to be bound well.

This workshop really improved my skill of communication among the other workshops as I have thought about how to emphasises the idea of my model. The techniques such as photoshop editing, hand-drawing and model making were all combined in this workshop and help me to demonstrate the effective way of communicate through model, photomontages and flip book.
