Draw-it week 2
Our week 1 Take-home task was to draw the plans of chosen house in 1:100 scale.
I chose Fisher house by Louis Kahn and calculate all new dimensions (to 1:100) of house that was given on the hand out.
The task required precise drawing techniques using pen and pencil.
I draft the plans with the pencil first and lined up three floors of house horizontally.
Then draw with pen over the draft plan.
In lecture, our lecturers introduced some rendering techniques from early 1700 to todays. The development and experiment of various rendering techniques gives specific ideas about our final rendering task.
In the studio, we went out of the studio and learn perspective drawing skills. All of the students drew one of our uni building in front of red centre. The scaling and angle of the building were main challenge for me. Though, after I finished drawing, I really understood and improved drawing skills of perspective view of building. We also started drawing sections and elevations in studio. Again, the difference between sections and elevations were important features for this class task. They recommended pen drawing to make the cut section bold. As I completed the class task, I recognised the close relationship with house and drawings.
