Model it! is the first project of Architecture communication (ARCH1141) course. In this week, we prepared boxboard or balsa wood and some materials such as glue, knife and rulers for the class tasks.
In class task, it divides in three tasks - one small house, one big house and combined house. Task 1, we make a 'house' based on 80x80mm plan. Then task2, we makes another house with the same plan but variation of height and consists three windows. Final task was to combine two houses that we made in creative way.
The main idea of this task was to giving us a basic idea of modelling and make us to improve modelling techniques such as cutting the material and clear finishing. I had some problem with combining two houses since I need to measure the dimensions of intersection.
This class tasks helped me to have a sense of volume of the model and also emphasises the importance of modelling in relation to how the actual house is built based on the 2D plans and elevations.
